Girls Inc. was honored to welcome Gwen Owens as the Emcee for the 2008 Founders' Strong, Smart and Bold Breakfast.

Gwen Owens, a multiple Emmy Award-nominated news veteran, currently serves as news anchor for CN8’s “Your Morning,” which airs from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. every weekday to more than 9 million viewers from Maine to Virginia.

Prior to joining CN8, Owens worked for Tri-State Media where she anchored daily newscasts and hosted live chat shows.  Owens also reported and anchored for several other television stations including WHSV, the ABC affiliate in Harrisonburg, VA, WTVR, the CBS affiliate in Richmond, WHYY in Delaware, as  well as WGAL, the NBC affiliate in Lancaster, Pa.  Owens also worked as a host for QVC, the world’s leading electronic retailer.

Throughout her more than two decades in the television industry, Owens has received honors for her reporting including awards from the Associated Press and Women in Communications.  In addition to her achievements, Owens is a member of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS).

Owens gives of her time to the community and supports numerous charities including Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and DJ’s Foundation, both of which seek to raise money for very sick children.  She’s also served on the board of the American Diabetes Association.

Born and raised in Malvern, Pa., Owens attended Rosemont College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  She also holds a Master’s degree in Communications from American University in Washington, DC.

Owens currently resides in suburban Philadelphia with her husband and two daughters.   She is very active in her church, where she sings on the choir and plays in the bell choir.
